LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATION - The Association is your voice in government. We keep you abreast of changing legislation and regulatory measures at the local and state level (Kansas and Missouri) that affect businesses. We work to inform our lawmakers on issues of interest to the hospitality industry and the economic value of the tourism and convention business.

ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER - The association's monthly newsletter, INN- SIGHT , provides up-to-date information on what is happening in the Greater Kansas City area, legislative issues, and information on upcoming association events.

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY - The Membership Directory lists all association hotel members and hotel supplier members. Over 1,000 directories are printed and distributed to members, elected officials, the Chambers of Commerce, and Convention and Visitor Bureaus.

MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP LUNCHEON - The membership luncheon is held the second Wednesday of every month (except July and November) at various locations throughout the Greater Kansas City area. This is a superb networking opportunity with industry colleagues and suppliers. Luncheon programs include guest speakers that address industry issues and provide information on local area attractions and economic development. The cost for a college/university member to attend is $14. Reservations are required.

ALLIED MEMBER TRADE SHOW - The annual trade show is available to association members. The trade show provides an opportunity for allied members to showcase their product lines.

ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT - The HLAGKC Golf Classic is one of the premier golf tournaments in the Greater Kansas City Area. The newsletter will contain information on this special event. Remember to sign-up early because this is a sell-out event!

RECOGNITION DINNER - Our annual Recognition Dinner recognizes the Hotelier of the Year, Hotel Supplier of the Year, and Hospitality Leadership Award winners. Bring your spouse, guests, clients, and friends to this gala black-tie social event.

EDUCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMS - Educational Institute classes are offered periodically, as are continuing educational programs. The HLA office also has a variety of training materials such as videos and textbooks available on a loan basis to its members. Call the office to make arrangements to use this resource.

UNDERGRADUATE AND CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS - The association's Educational Foundation awards college scholarships each year to students pursuing a career in the hospitality industry. Continuing education scholarships are available for hotel and motel employees as well.

RESUMES ON FILE - The association office maintains resumes of individuals seeking employment in the hospitality industry. These resumes are available for your use.

HELP WHEN YOU NEED IT - Your association staff is always available to provide assistance when needed. Call or stop by the office, we are here to serve you!
