Since 1928 the Hotel and Lodging Association of Greater Kansas City has met the hospitality needs of our visitors and played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the convention and tourism industry in the Kansas City community.

The Hotel and Lodging Association of Greater Kansas City is a nonprofit professional association that fosters an effective working relationship between hotels and motels to ensure that members adhere to the highest ethical standards of the lodging industry. The association provides its members with legislative and regulatory representation on matters pertaining to the lodging and tourism industry and works closely with convention and visitors bureaus to create a favorable climate that promotes tourism and convention business opportunities.

Membership provides you with an opportunity to network with colleagues who are linked to the hospitality industry and actively involved in the growth and development of the greater Kansas City community. Our members share ideas, compare notes, and pursue lasting friendships with counterparts in the industry.

Membership - The membership of the Hotel and Lodging Association of Greater Kansas City includes over 125 hotels and motels in the greater Kansas City metropolitan area, 96 hotel suppliers, and 6 colleges and universities that grant degrees in hospitality management. The association represents over 8,500 employees in the hotel/motel industry. (The association also represents several hotels outside the Kansas City metro area.)

Memberships are available to hotels and motels (there is a special rate for hotels under construction), bed and breakfast inns, hotel suppliers, and colleges and universities with a hotel management curriculum. Please review the benefits we offer our members.

Meetings - The Hotel and Lodging Association of Greater Kansas City holds a membership luncheon on the second Wednesday of each month, except for July and November. The luncheons are held at a member hotel or motel. The Board of Directors meets prior to the luncheon to conduct association business. Luncheon programs are informative and educational. The cost for one representative of a member property is included in the dues.

Educational Foundation - The Educational Foundation of the Hotel and Lodging Association of Greater Kansas City awards college scholarships each year, provides continuing education classes that support individuals seeking professional certification, promotes hospitality careers at job fairs, sponsors the Mid-America Hospitality Forum, and maintains a resource library for members.
