HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS WEBSITE – Hotel members are listed FREE on the association’s website, www.kansascitylodging.org. Hotels are listed alphabetically and geographically. Each listing provides website visitors with accommodations information, a property description, location/
directions, contact information, a link to the hotel’s website, e-mail address, and more. Visit www.kansascitylodging.org and see how your hotel can benefit from this FREE advertising exposure. The Kansas City Convention and Visitors Association is automatically linked to our website for their accommodations information.
LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATION – The association is the hotels’ voice in government. HLAGKC monitors legislative agendas at both the local and state levels in Kansas and Missouri and keeps you informed of changing laws and regulatory measures that affect your business, and educate legislators on issues of interest to the hotel industry to show them the economic value of the tourism and convention business with their community.
WAGE AND SALARY SURVEY REPORT – The association conducts an annual wage and salary survey of the greater Kansas City hotel properties. The survey gathers information on wages and employment benefits. Results of the survey are published in a booklet that is provided FREE to the hotels that submit a completed survey.
ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER - The association’s monthly newsletter, “Inn- Sight”, provides up-to-date information on what is happening in the greater Kansas City area--legislative issues, directory updates, and information on upcoming association events.
MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY - The association’s membership directory lists all association hotel members, hotel suppliers, and colleges with hospitality programs. Over 1,000 directories are printed each year and distributed to members, elected officials, the Chamber of Commerce, and Convention and Visitors Bureaus throughout the greater Kansas City area.
MEMBERSHIP LUNCHEONS - Membership luncheon are normally held the second Wednesday of each month when there is no other special event held, in various locations throughout the greater Kansas City area. The luncheon affords members a chance to network with industry colleagues and suppliers. Luncheon programs include guest speakers that address industry issues. The lunch is FREE for the first attendee from a member company. The cost to bring a guest is $16. Reservations are required.
ALLIED MEMBER TRADE SHOW – The association’s annual trade show is FREE for our hotel members. More than 65 hotel suppliers use this opportunity to showcase new products and services that can have an impact on hotel profitability. The trade show also includes the membership luncheon where we present the Star Employee of the Year award winners.
ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT –The association’s annual golf classic is one of the premier golf tournaments in the greater Kansas City area. The golf tournament is always sold out, so early sign-up is recommended.
RECOGNITION DINNER – The association conducts an annual recognition dinner that recognizes the Hotelier of the Year, Hotel Supplier of the Year, and the Hospitality Leadership Award winners. Members are encouraged to bring spouses, clients, and friends to this gala black-tie social highlight of the year.
AIRPORT TELEPHONE RESERVATION DIRECTORY SERVICE – Association members that list their hotel on the Airport Telephone Reservation Directory will receive discounted advertising rates from Interspace Airport Advertising. Airport Telephone Reservation Directories are located in the baggage pickup areas of Kansas City International Airport. The speed dial telephone service enables out-of-town visitors to quickly contact member hotels for shuttle van service and reservations.
REFERRALS - The association office receives numerous telephone and e-mail requests for hotel accommodations in the greater Kansas City area. Our office only recommends member hotels.
RESUMES ON FILE - The association office maintains a resume file for individuals seeking employment in the hospitality industry. These resumes are available for member use.
EDUCATIONAL – Continuing education courses from the Educational Foundation are offered each semester at a member hotel. In addition, the Mid-America Hospitality Forum is conducted each year, covering a variety of topics of interest to general managers and supervisors. The association office also maintains a variety of training materials such as videos and textbooks available for loan to its members.
UNDERGRADUATE AND CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS – The Association’s Educational Foundation awards scholarships each year to students pursuing a career in the hospitality industry.
ALTERNATIVE SCHOLARSHIPS – Alternative scholarships are designed to help the hotel employees that work for a member hotel. Scholarships are available for part-time college students, the Hospitality Forum, and professional certification.
